In the coolness of the morning, I strip away the slippers from my feet... I want to feel the soft sand under my feet.. it feels so refreshing...

I walk along the coastline and my eyes feast on the rocky terrain.. the seaweed along the sandy beach... the salty air... it is all so quiet and peaceful... imagine a day of bliss... just myself... in unspoilt nature

In the far distance, I see Maria Islet... a landmark of the southern shores of Vieux-Fort... I wish my arms were strong enough to swim there... but I will have to wait a little later to get a boat ride across...

The early morning light cast shadows on the cluster of mangroves where the birds nestle and find shelter... it is so serene... moments of peace where I can be with nature and feel connected with my inner spirit...

And right there... the river flows into the sea... In our culture, I have learnt that when one bathes where the river meets the sea, bad omens are washed away from you... I feel clean and purified...

My walk ends with a bath in the middle of the river and the sea... in the tranquil water... I cast all my cares away as nature restores balance in my body... this is the medicine I have been looking for...nature at it's best in the southern shores of Saint Lucia
